CERNtainly Inspirational!

Dr Vincent smith, a leading physicist at the European Centre for Nuclear Research, CERN was guest of honour at The Stockwood Park Academy this week. The renowned and well travel scholar was at the Academy to inspire more than 100 students from both Stockwood and our sister academy Chalk Hills from Rears 10 to 13, by discussing some of the cutting edge research going on in CERN.

The Scholar discussed 4 interesting topics; How the Higgs Boson was discovered and what time it is in Mars. He also talked about the life of one of the greatest physicist, Albert Einstein, who is widely known for his work that gave rise to the famous equation E = MC2. The presentation was concluded by a talk on careers in physics and engineering. Many of the students questioned him on matters related to careers in Physics to help them sharpen their thoughts about their future careers.

It was a great success and a very rewarding day.
