Online Safety Advice for Parents

Online Safety Advice for Parents

Along with the launch of our new website, we're pleased to share the news that we have subscribed to Parent Info. This service, provided by the Department for Education, provides a feed of new and relevant safety stories for parents and carers, and is updated at least weekly. This means that there's always something new for parents to learn by visiting our site!

Recent news items include guides to social network and image sharing apps such as Whatsapp, Kik Messenger, Instragram, ooVoo and Snapchat, and advice for helping you child deal with online trolls and online shaming. There are lots of parent-friendly guides to some of the fun things you children may do, like participating in viral internet trends, blogging, vlogging and social networking - with FAQs to help parents find out what is and isn't safe, and how to monitor your child's internet usage. The site also includes loads of practical information from groups such as CEOP, about what to do when things go wrong (for example, this guide to dealing with sexting).

You can access the Parent Info feed, along with additional news about how we are helping our students to stay safe, here.
