Year 8 History students recently visited London’s Imperial War Museum. Whilst they were there, they had an opportunity to take part in the museum’s First World War Stories workshop. Students enjoyed a hands-on opportunity to analyse historical artefacts to investigate the personal stories of those involved in the First World War. After the workshop, students toured the different areas of the museum which focused on warfare and conflict throughout history. The recently renovated atrium gave the students a unique opportunity to witness spectacular examples of machinery including a Harrier Jump Jet and a Spitfire. Students and staff alike were also very humbled during a visit to the Holocaust Exhibition which gave students the opportunity to witness how the Nazis persecuted Europeans during the Second World War.
Staff were very impressed with the behaviour and mature attitudes of the students and we look forward to visiting again soon.
A big thank you should also go to Miss McErlean, Mr Wiggett and Miss Brar for organising the trip.
